I bought this last Christmas and hadn't used it as we were moving. The third time using the shredder, the clear top piece broke off. I didnt have anything in there that would have caused this. I had the old model for years and this new version is not as good as the old one. Not something I would expect from Kitchenaid.

I love the way this grinds cheese! Expecially soft cheese. Amazing. I do wish it had a second slicer wheel that sliced a little thicker, so I could use it to make pickles. The KitchenAid website, however, is super lousy. It took me several hours to place a order, kept directing me to temporarily down for maintenance. The website has been down more than up, during a week, when I am trying to do my Holiday shopping!!!

Base Broke from the tube

I have had my attachment for about a year and suddenly the tube broke from the base. I love kitchenAid, however it seems the attachments are made cheap and not as durable as you expect from KitchenAid. I also wished I could fit and slice a whole potato.

I purchased this product a few weeks ago. Holy cow!!! Absolute life changer. Shredding cheese and slicing vegetables has never been easier. If you want to make your cooking life easier look no further than this product. I will say, a few days after we purchased the attachment, I accidently knocked over the main unit and the plastic feeder tube cracked. Still able to use it, just has a crack in it. So be careful.

I do a lot of cooking and chopping. These attachments work pretty well, especially the shredder. If you don't have knife skills, the slicer is good too but if you are doing big jobs it can get clogged.

Clear plastic chute broke off

Loved it until about my 5th time using it and the clear plastic chute tube broke right off as I was shredding gruyere cheese. So so disappointed in the quality of this attachment's chute. KitchenAid! Please work on the design some more, your product has great potential, if only the chute would stop breaking off from the attachment. Judging from the reviews, seems it happens too often.

I bought this last week. i used it for the first time this evening. I was slicing potatoes and had to stop and clean it out as all of the potatoes were jammed up inside. i don't understand why you wouldn't make the blade with a slight cone shape, flared out at the exit end so that the food falls out more easily via gravity. i rated this a 3 since i haven't tried out all blades yet, and got it as a bundle with the grinder. if buying only this item, i would say buyer beware, or plan on tilting the back end of the mixer up to hopefully allow the food to fall out better.

Love it....but it breaks every time

I first purchased this in July 2018 to replace to original set that I had purchased with my mixer. I loved how it shredded and sliced. While shredding cheese in Feb 2019 the cheese chute just fell off! So i returned it to the original place I purchased it from and they replaced it. I was so happy. Well...last night my replacement did the same thing..... I was just hoping to get another set like I originally purchased in 2003 (was much better quality) but it is "out of stock" so I am assuming they don't make it anymore. Wish there was some way to make the chute attach better to the housing..... I would like to have something to use now....

Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder makes life simple

I always thought a mixer was for mixing batters. Boy was I wrong. I have difficulties grasping things because of my disability so cooking became more difficult. However, with Kitchenaid I'm now learning a new way. The Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder is wonderful. Sometimes I use it with other attachments too. But, this one works great to slice carrots, zucchini, pepperoni, cucumbers, cheese, etc. the Shredder attachments work the same as well. I'm no longer trying to use a small handheld item I purchased at a home party what I would cut my fingers on, and had issues with because of my grip issues. This attachment works great! Everyone, experiment.... don't just use your mixer to mix batters. It's great with the different attachments for cooking. Plus, I've noticed my home cooked meals seem to taste better when made with kitchenaid. I just wish it came with a dicing attachment also. That's why I gave a 4 for features.

I like this set. It is easier to clean than my food processor. Plus I like how I can prep an unlimited amount (I have big gardens). But I does tend to spew veggies everywhere. I need to tip my mixer with a cutting board so things will fall out. It makes a big mess when I am grating veggies like cucumbers and zucchini.

One of the best attachments ever made

great timesaver

I bought this attachment for my KitchenAid stand mixer primarily for shredding mozzarella and parmigiana cheese, as well as for slicing/shredding veggies for salads. Could not have been simpler to use and cleans up in a snap! My advice for the softer cheeses: Pop in the freezer for 15-20 minutes before shredding to prevent "clumping" as the cheese gets smaller. Make sure you line up the groove on the attachment with the indentation on the the food pusher to avoid breaking the smaller food pushing insert.

Love how easy it is to attach and change blades.

I bought the shredder/ chopper cause I started doing keto. The shredded cheese you buy at the store has potato starch added to keep from sticking together. Shred do my own is way more healthy without all the preservatives that are added.
